I can’t imagine how many times I have written goals, set goals, follow it duly and at the end of the packaging of these things, I just flop ππ…like yes I flop and you know the word I say to myself, ‘las las everyone go dey alright” … which is true but ‘abegi’ but when will the right time come oooo π€π€because ‘me I won de alright oo’, but when is really the right time, will I actually be alright? all in the sake of waiting for the perfect time to start something which I end up not starting….
There are good intentions to being a ‘perfectionist’ because we all want to do things in the most excellent way possible but ‘ogbeni’ don’t forget that there is no such thing as ‘perfect time’ but of course there is a Perfect God who tells you to go the ant and learn.
The ants never wait for the perfect time to gather food; they always gather food even if it the smallest tiny crumb of bread, we should stop giving excuses and start thriving.
I try this, I cancel it, I try again, I just lose it, but what we forget is that all these mistakes are a fragment of the big picture we are building.
Accept your failure, celebrate your little win like it is a big picture I want. Always wanting to self-critics because I want it to be perfect and gbam ‘I blow’, but if you don’t put your ass together, stick up to your failures and mistake, trust your little wins, and keep working for excellence, you might get that big picture and it will forever stay in your head and yes last forever in your imagination.
Truth be told, Excellence comes when we still feel we are not up to it when we don’t even seek it at a particular job, skills or whatever we do.
Your first work, poem, write up, song or anything might or will not be amazing as we want it to be, there is always something missing but it doesn’t necessarily mean that you are bad, it just means you have pulled the first string to keep moving.
Perfectionism just makes you feel you are not good enough and makes you feel there must be one major hit and everything feels good but my dear, excellence comes to those who are hardworking with talent and skills.
Everything requires Mastery and Mastery takes time but not to forget that we fail, loose hope but we not forget to keep moving on this path to mastery.
One thing about excellence is that you keep gathering ‘required knowledge’ in whatever field you find yourself, keep learning and keep moving, practice what you need and what is relevant because there is always a reflection of where you are going in another person journey.
Now when gathering knowledge, don’t beat yourself up because you failed, but keep getting better at it, it doesn’t mean the person you admire or the person you love gathering information from didn’t fail at different times, the only difference is that he didn’t give up and that why you can look up to the person.
Look at all the works, failure, suffering, pain, success and achievement as a bigger picture in progress, it is a small representation of the bigger picture. i.e. all I go through is what makes the big picture, I’m looking and striving because whether you keep making the move or not, time will always pass.
But most importantly, with the time you gain mastery, so don’t be in the circle of waiting for the ‘Jim Jim’ time but work toward the ‘Jim’ in the time. So my fellow Perfectionist, don’t stop striving for excellence but continue building for excellence.
Done is better than perfect-anonymous
